Dan Castellaneta took birth in Chicago, Illinois. He joined Oak Park and River Forest High School and while studying there, he played on the basketball team. Dan next joined Northern Illinois University. He grew up on the south east side of Oak Park, Illinois.

On ‘The Simpsons’, Castellaneta gives his voice to ‘Homer Simpson’, ‘Abraham “Grampa” Simpson’, ‘Barney Gumble’, ‘Krusty the Clown’, ‘Groundskeeper Willie’, ‘Mayor “Diamond ” Joe Quimby’, ‘Hans Moleman’, ‘Sideshow Mel’, ‘Itchy’, ‘Kodos’, ‘Arnie Pye’, ‘Scott Christian’, the ‘Squeaky Voiced Teen’ and other characters. For his excellent performance on ‘The Simpsons’, Castellaneta won three Emmy Awards as ‘Outstanding Voice-Over Performance’. He and his wife has also appeared on some Simpsons’ episodes such as “I Am Furious Yellow”, “Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife”, “He Loves to Fly and He D’ohs” and “Days of Wine and D’oh’ses”.

Dan Castellaneta made guest appearance on US Legal drama ‘LA Law’. . As of now, he’s earning $400,000 per episode of ‘The Simpsons’, although he joined on just $30,000. He also serves as the consulting producer.

He has portrayed Homer Simpson on ‘The Tracey Ullman Show’ and ‘The Simpsons’ since 1987 onwards, and it simply enable him to beat the twenty-year record held by Arness and Grammer.

On Nickelodeon’s ‘Hey Arnold’! Castellaneta played Grandpa and the mentally unstable ice cream truck driver “The Jolly-Olly Man”. He appeared as Jonathan in ‘All Grown Up!’. On ‘The Cat in the Hat’, Castellaneta has an important role. On ‘Futurama’, he was seen portraying Robot Devil. On ‘Back to the Future: The Animated Series’, Castellaneta gave his voice to Christopher Lloyd’s character. During 1999, Castellaneta played the comedic Nordom in the computer game named ‘Planescape: Torment’.

In the animated series ‘Earthworm Jim’, Castellaneta gave his voice to the leading character in the animated series. In 2005, Castellaneta portrayed Dr. Stein on ‘Arrested Development’. He also appeared on the movie ‘The War of Roses’. He also made appearances on some episodes of some TV shows such as ‘Frasier’, ‘Friends’, ‘Reno 911!’, and ‘Married… with Children’, ‘Yes, Dear’, ‘Reba’, ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, ‘ALF’, ‘That 70s Show’, ‘Stargate SG-1′‘ etc.

Castellaneta’s first music CD ‘Two Lips’ was published on February 22, 2000. His first comedy CD ‘I Am not Homer’ published on April 23, 2002. In the 2004 NBC movie ‘Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie’s Angels’, Castellaneta appeared as Aaron Spelling. Castellaneta voiced Megavolt in the Aladdin sequel ‘Return of Jafar’, ‘Darkwing Duck, Genie and 1994 Aladdin TV series.

In early 1980s, Castellaneta portrayed as Detective Farblonget, an absent-minded private investigator, on the local Chicago children’s show, ‘Beyond the Magic Door’.

Castellaneta made guest appearance as Joe Spencer in the ‘Stargate SG-1′ season 8. Castellaneta has also written an episode of ‘The Simpsons’ entitled Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore’ along with his wife. On an episode of ‘Veronica Mars’, he portrayed the character of a sociology professor.

Castellaneta was also seen in the Will Smith drama ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’, in which he portrayed a senior employee at Dean Witter Reynolds. For ‘The Batman’, an animation series, Castellaneta voiced Batman’s villain The Ventriloquist. During 2007, he was seen in ‘The Bicycle Men’.

As of now, Castellaneta is married to writer Deb Lacusta and they’re living in Los Angeles. He is a pure vegetarian. He supported Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.
